The fall promise of crunchy leaves left me wanting for a CRUNCHY apple cider donut this afternoon. Store bought puff + my trusty air fryer + some sugar, spice and, of course, cider and the rest of the world is on hold. Find me on my porch crunching away while I wait for these temps to drop to sweater weather!
(Air Fryer) Cider Caramel Crunchy Donuts
Roll out a sheet of puff pastry using confectioner’s sugar instead of flour to dust the surface as you roll. Cut out donut rounds and holes. Airfry at 325F for 8-10 minutes.
While still warm, toss in Cider Donut Sugar: 1 cup sugar + 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon + pinch ground nutmeg.
Dunk donut tops in Apple Cider Caramel: make a dry caramel in a dry pot with 1 cup of sugar, deglaze with 1 tablespoon butter + ½ cup apple cider.
Crunch your way into fall.
